Principal's Welcome
From “Rokko” to the International Society
There are many schools that have a venerable history and try to hand down their traditions through generations. Our school, too, has preserved its old name from the time when it was founded as a junior high school under the old educational system of Japan.
Now there are not a few schools that combine a junior and a senior high school. Under the old Japanese school system, junior high school’s period was five years. Then the old junior high school was extended for one year and divided into a three year junior and a three year senior high school. Different from public schools in Japan, private schools were founded with their individual spirit and try to pursue their own educational objectives.
Rokko has a history of more than 75 years. During the Second World War and in the difficult post-war years Rokko achieved its maturity. Even after the new senior high school was added, our school continued to be called “Rokko Junior High.” The fact illustrates we were enjoying good reputation in the old times and it was carried over into the new era, responding to the new requirements and challenges of the changing times. In our present time, nations all over the world must collaborate and co-work to cope with social issues.
Our school has always had an international character, but at the same time strives to educate young Japanese who must and can be good representatives of their countries wherever they may go. We would like our alumni to be active in the world as “Men for Others.” In the same way we would like to encourage all of you who want to enter this school to have great hopes and to make your dreams come true.
